From Intense Regional Grinds to Nail-Biting National Showdowns
This year 2025 was a total blast! Registration kicked off early, with schools forming teams of three (at least 10 per school, but no cap on the squads). The action unfolded in two phases:

Regional Qualifiers:
Teams tackled a six-month research paper grind (60% of the score), diving into natural sciences problems released by SOFU. Then came the individual theory exam in March, held right on school campuses with SOFU examiners dropping by to keep things fair (40% of the score). It was intense students buzzing with ideas, late-night brainstorming sessions, and that nervous excitement before submitting.
National Championship:
On June 21, 2025, at Galaxy International School Uganda, the top 54 teams from across the country clashed in “Science Fights.” Imagine defending your research like a boss in a PhD-style showdown debating, presenting, and outsmarting opponents.
Special training sessions prepped the qualifiers, turning nerves into confidence. Winners walked away with shiny awards at the ceremony, and standout teams earned spots for international glory.
While specific winner names aren’t splashed everywhere yet (check SOFU’s site for updates), the event highlighted Uganda’s rising science stars, with feedback pouring in about how it boosted participants’ confidence and class performance. One teacher shared, “My students came back transformed more analytical and eager to learn!” If you missed it, don’t sweat; the vibes were all about perseverance paying off.
